ABOUT THE ROLE

 

To provide support and ownership to client facing platforms.  This position is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and support of our VMWare platform and all associated services within our IaaS infrastructure including Backup and Replication. Additional responsibilities include the day-to-day management of these platforms ensuring they are available, upgraded and maintained. Hut 8 HPC strives in providing its clients with secure, intuitive, and efficient platforms to assist with the client's infrastructure and I.T. needs.

 

Some of the key responsibilities you should expect are the following:

VMware Administration:

Manage and support VMware environments including vSphere, ESXi, and related technologies.
Assist in the planning and implementation of virtualization projects.
Monitor and maintain the health and performance of virtualized systems.
Veeam Management:
Design, deploy, and maintain Veeam Backup & Replication solutions.
Monitor and optimize backup and replication jobs to ensure high availability and performance.
Perform regular backup and restore tests to ensure data integrity and recoverability.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Veeam Backup & Replication.
Zerto Management:
Configure and manage Zerto for disaster recovery and business continuity.
Ensure seamless integration of Zerto with Veeam and other infrastructure components.
Perform regular DR tests and failover drills to validate recovery plans.
Storage Solutions:
Work with various storage technologies to support backup, recovery, and virtualization operations.
Assist in the configuration, optimization, and management of SAN, NAS, and other storage solutions.
Ensure storage systems are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance.
Collaboration and Documentation:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive operations and project execution.
Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, processes, and procedures.
Provide training and support to other team members as needed.
Provide procedures and training to staff.
React quickly to changing requirements with the ability to determine impacts and solutions.
Coordinate and lead in key process improvements.
Participate in design and review of new systems and applications.
Define and perform system backups and recovery procedures.
Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
Provide technical support and training for the NOC on matters relating to Hut 8 platforms.
Develop and maintain training materials and platform documentation.
On-call availability. Ability to work during weekend change windows.
 
ABOUT YOU
College diploma or university degree in computer science and/or 4 years equivalent work experience and/or other technical certification.
Experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and other VMware technologies.
Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication solutions.
Experience with Zerto or similar disaster recovery solutions.
Experience with various storage technologies (SAN, NAS, etc.).
Experience deploying operating systems in virtualized and containerized environments
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining multiple operating systems including Windows and Linux.
Experience with disaster recovery and backup products such as Veeam and Zerto
Experience with programming or scripting languages and basic database management
Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Extensive technical support experience
Excellent understanding of network technologies including VLANS, VXLAN, NSX, VLT, DNS and OSPF
Familiarity with Open Stack and VMware highly beneficial
Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols, firewall management, and database administration.
Good technical knowledge of current network hardware and standards, familiarity with OSI layer and advanced networking concepts (switch, route, etc)
Good written and oral communication skills.
Advanced troubleshooting skills
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
Highly self-motivated and directed.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Strong customer service orientation and demonstrated history of a willingness to help.
